Our first family holiday with Arabella was to Halcyon House at Cabarita Beach recently. I also had my baby moon there and it’s my favourite place to holiday up north.

The reason why we love that destination and why we chose to go there with Arabella was for convenience.

We flew out of Avalon Airport which is only 25 minutes from our property, arrived at Gold Coast Airport , jumped in our hire car (which was ready to go with the car seat) and arrived at Halcyon House in 20 minutes! Another reason we love the property is because it’s boutique – only 21 rooms in total.

Emma’s advice: With children, request a ground floor room behind the pool so you won’t have to traipse up and down all the time with your little one/s.

If I am perfectly honest, we may go to Halcyon House without Arabella next time [laughs]. Whilst it was lovely having her with us, when you are paying that amount of money for accommodation you want to be able to relax and with a teething five month year old, we struggled doing that. But I guess that’s par for the course with a new bub!

Emma’s top tips!

As I’m a new mum, I feel like I’m the last person who should be giving tips right now. But my girlfriend told me to feed on the way up and down on the plane to help with their ears and that worked well.
Next time we will probably stay somewhere with Arabella like an apartment or similar where there is more space and we are able to walk around without waking her up.
I bought a carry on stroller which was amazing! Definitely recommend a travel pram. Ours is the Zoe Umbrella XL1.
Having a hire car with the baby seat ready and waiting for you at the airport is highly recommended too!

Our upcoming family trips are to the Gold Coast, Queensland for a week, followed by Adelaide, South Australia for a weekend and then Noosa, Queensland.
